Know about Little History of Ahmedabad City

The Gujarat was after came under organized of the Delhi Sultanate in the 14th century and finally came under the organized of his grandson Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1411. Who while at the banks of Sabarmati liked the forested area for a new capital city near and laid the foundation of a new walled city near Karnavti and named it Ahmedabad after the four saints in the area by the name of Ahmed. During the time of Maratha Empire governance the city became the hub of a disagreement between two Maratha clans the Peshwa of Poona and the Gaekwad of Baroda. In 1780 during the 1st Jemes Hartley stormed and imprison Ahmedabad, but it was handed backto the Marathas at the end of the war. The British East India Company took over the city in 1818 during the 3rd Anglo Maratha War. A military cantonment was established in 1824 and a municipal government in 1858. The British rule Ahmedabad became one of the most important city of the Gujarat region. One time the Ahmedabad city established itself as the home of a developing textile industry which earned it nicknamed of “Manchester”

The Indian freedom movement developed roots in the Ahmedabad city when Mahatma Gandhi establishes Kochrab and Satyagraha Ashram on the banks of Sabarmati in which would become inner nationalist activities.
